yea, AO has thier admins wear special armor and each job has a different one, not a bad idea
I'm wondering if there's a way to see what happened in the server in the logs[something like how admins could see kills, console commands and chat in half-life mod servers]
though it might be late, wouldn't it have been a good idea to post a list of who moderates the trades here[by in-game character names]?

I would like to point out this, it has happened to me also!

The now popular way of "reporting" scamers via a screenshot of the transactions is completely short sited of ANet!

These images can be alter VERY easily to say what ever you want them to say, I can do it and I know about another dozen people who can. These fakes can look absolutly identical to origional images! Now some may say that these images once altered can be detected with certain software. I know of about 45,000 people that can all alter images to trick these kinds of software!
its very simply done and is again completely undectable!

I would like to raze another point, this is directly taken from a conversation I had with a group leader before we where doing a Tomb Farm,

Leader: No quitters at all!
Dark Moth: dont worry i never quit, well unless my box dies or somthing
Leader: LOL yeah dont worry quitters never last long with me!
Dark Moth: What do you mean?
Leader: LOL, I have a mate who is an ANet Mod when people quite on me I get my friend to completely ban there accounts! LOL!

I dont know if this is true but it is very alarming and I think ANet need to have some other means of banning scammers!?

D2 had this exact same problem. Their forum admins still mediate trades. I understand the concern from GWG. Best thing to do is Educate the players of this scam. Only way to stop is if people know about it.

With Gaile's log from in game more people are taking notice. Hope this will be a temporary hold.

Umm... is it ok to get a mod to mediate a trade if we request it of them and they agree?

This isn't an adult game,mate..

There is a large number of kids, in this game.
A kid of 10 12y don't think during a trade can find a scammer. His innocence during trade is the key of scammers. Surely, i saw a good idea. If during pre-searing with command help a new player can have popup windows about scammers maybe 1 day noone will be scammed. Or simply know something about support and report..

And anyone who does altar images will be caught. You think ArenaNet act upon just a screenshot?

They investigate into the case, you see, ArenaNet have this thing called 'chat logs'.

They do indeed. Why do you think when you report someone for something they ask for not only the players name but the date, time, location, and district it all took place in.

Thats why, rest assured, if you have been banned or temporarily banned you obviously did something that warranted it.

I think I have a very good way to avoid loosing money?

OK so you report a scammer to ANet they ban the guy, all well and good but ur still out 100K?

I have a programe called Fraps that video tapes everything on your screen, including the game and conversation. If you are scamed by someone just load the video onto a site tell him to go look at it and when he has tell him that he has 1hr to return or give the money back he stole or you will send the video to ANet and get him banned as this is conclusive proof of a scam..?

It seems to work so far and may help to avoid hugh amounts of e-mails to ANet giving them a bit of a break? as most scamers rather than loose a €60 account just pay back the money!?

I'd like to know this as well ... I was just getting ready to sell a few big items. 100k + ecto/shards until I hear otherwise I guess.

It's really a damn shame that some enterprising little twit (or twits) had to mess up a good thing for "the rest of the class," as it were.

May the scammer or scammers involved go crosseyed and lose control over their bladders

If that worked in game, then all the warnings in regards to financial scams in real life would work too..

I got scammed today... big time... I honestly don't know what to say.
I will not say his name since he is an *upper class* member of this forum I might add.
i lost 200k in *gold*.... MY VERY OWN PHOENIX BLADE R.8 15%-10AP, 10/10 Furious, +30 HP.... which was suppose to be a safekeeping for the trade----- SINCE THAT GUY WAS THE ONE SCARED TO BE SCAMMED IN THE FIRST PLACE. You know he actually "swore" on everything, and there it meant nothing to him and he scammed me; lucky me I didn't lose everything. I got the perfect runic axe meant for the trade.... I don't know what to say.

How the heck can someone get scammed. Um "dont trust anyone in game period" is the perspective I see it in. If i want to buy something I find out the cost first than buy it.

Other than that, what other type of scams are there, that a stupid person can't avoid being victim of? I never gotten scammed and don't think I ever will. Just don't get how someone can get scammed unless they are oblivious at the fact the world is full of jerks and scammers. I'm sure if you guys list anytype of scams, that I didn't know exist in-game, I can instantly respond with a way to avoid it.

Geez I just don't understand how players get scammed.

Someone kinda well known did that here. He did gold only trade and used his fow armor along with 100k gold in first trade. He took the 500k item and logged. The other person kept his 1 million gold fow armor. Kinda weird as he lost 500k

QFT.

Maybe the problem in the game isn't the scammers, but it's the stupid people. If there were less stupid people around, there would be less scams.

It's just like everyone else here telling someone to make a counter to touch rangers instead of complaining about it. Same thing, if you're too lazy to counter/prevent yourself from being scammed, or if you've been scammed more than once, then you probably deserved to be scammed.

Anet can't ban scammers, and neither would I. Scammers make up a big chunk of the GW playerbase. So the stupid people will either have to wisen up to their trading habits, or it's their fault for being stupid.

So deal with it and stop letting yourselves get scammed.

"Scammers make up a big chunk of the GW playerbase."

No offense, but I find that your information is a little inaccurate. Not only that, your psycology suggests that scams are straight forward and simple. There are more elaborate scams which do take advantage of innocent players. I would also like to point out that if we can relate this to stupidity, why not relate it to greed and a lack of protection?

Honestly, I can't see myself agreeing that scammers should be left alone and have no moral obligations. There was a debate a while ago on these boards based on a very specific line in the EULA that could be very well definitive of Anet's stance towards scammers.

Please stop sounding like you support scamming, it's very easy to accuse people of being unaware, distracted, or perhaps innocent.. There is no reason to believe scamming behavior should be left alone and there is no logical reason that players shouldn't be protected against people who abuse aspects of a game. Abusive behavior I can warrant is not tolerated in many online games, and I don't believe Anet plans to make this an exception.
